Since 2003, while we’ve been improving our lives and the lives of thousands of individuals, we have come to learn and see firsthand that unmanaged stress has a radically ill effect on peoples’ health and happiness and in them reaching their goals in every area of their life.
Stress can yield a predictably negative effect on your health and happiness regardless of other efforts. And, whether by avoidance or ignorance, stress is a poorly addressed to totally not addressed aspect in our industry… as well as across the board!
Harmful effects of stress
When you let your stress get the best of you, you put yourself at a greatly increased risk of developing a range of illnesses or diseases – from the common cold to severe heart disease to cancer.
Stress has an acutely powerful impact on your well-being as it is a natural response activated in the brain; its an autonomic function, you cannot prevent it -and don’t want to, but you can (and should) learn to manage it and direct it as well as to do things that enhance your natural recovery processes.
With our transition to utilizing Heart Rate Variability full time in our coaching programs it became crystal clear to us that when clients were unable to reduce stress they stopped practicing positive health habits like exercising, getting enough rest, and eating healthy and replaced them with coping mechanisms that of course did not support their aspirations.
